I asked the young music dude at work
“Stephen, what is your goal with these songs you’re writing? Are you trying to play out? Are you looking to do open mics?”
His face lit up,as it does when a person cares deeply about a topic..
“I want a band”
But he said that it’s just him and his drummer pal,when his drummer pal is on break from college..
Then he said something I didn’t expect..
“I could just take up bass and have YOU play guitar”..
I’m flattered.
I really am.
And I can tell you love something like I love something.
I can tell there’s more to you than this day-job..
But hey dude,,, you want to play with people your own age..
I’ll listen to your work and I’ll absolutely give you thoughtful feedback..
If you wanted a guest spot on a recording I’d gladly do that …
But you don’t want a band with old people 🤣
You got your shit together kid.
And you’re extremely intelligent.
And you give me a bit of hope for the younger people..
It was a sweet gesture..
