I was cheating on my Strat for a while.

Picking up that pale blue Epiphone Les Paul off the guy at work.

I like it.

Decent guitar.

But I know the true Gibson Pauls are too damned heavy for me..

I’ve never owned one but I assume it’s uncomfortable.

So I played it for about a year..

When I cleaned up the Strat however…

There’s no comparison.

That guitar fits me because I’ve been playing it since I was 14 fucking years old..

It feels like home.

The bends.

The chords.

The cleans..

I did do something new though, I actually left the whammy bar in.

(sex joke?)

Nah ..I just never used it..

But now I’m starting to..

And what gives me a leg up is that I’m a pickless player…so the hand was already free.

Unfettered and unencumbered..

And now I can do that slow pulse…

(another sex joke?)

Nah..I’m talking about strumming an expensive chord and slowly wobbling the bar with your right hand…

Whilst holding the chord with your left…

It has a feel to it ..

You can also get weird and apply some pull offs and hammer ons with the left hand,while getting dramatic with the right…

I read in some guitar magazine as a teenager…

“there is no limit to what any instrument can do”

You look at guitar legends and most of them ended up also fuckin around with keyboards..

Van Halen, Brian May… Uhhh…

Plenty of other ones..

I saw Billy Corgan on the PlainSong tour, and he spent a lot of time behind the keys…

At first I was a little disappointed but then I got to hear how amazing Jeff Schroeder sounded…

Out of this world 🫡

I think it’s cool to check out new instruments…
