In a “jam band” setting…
Picture it.
A bass cabinet setup. A stereo PA for drums..
The program would listen to you..as you jammed…
Provide proper backing,or soloing…
Completely unrehearsed.
It could happen one day.
Probably Soon.
You could be a digital weirdo and play with your robot friends..
(then get yelled at by your robot girlfriend?)
Ha! Oh snap…
“our drummer is hooked on a computer virus”..
So I say ..
Obviously HUMANS are better..
For that type of thing I’m describing..
But…
Humans age.
And saddle responsibilities.
And relationships.
And drugs and alcohol.
And children.
And geographic relocations.
The “AI band in the garage” does none of that shit.
You could even play in headphones 🎧
You could even simulate the organic..
The feeling of creating in the moment..
(would you buy an album of that?)
Of course not.
Honestly I’m not crazy about jam bands after the grunge era..
But the novelty of it.
There might be something there.
To just plug in and go with a band that has zero personal problems.
A drummer that’s actually good.
A bass player that can ride the pocket…
I could see the appeal..
For sure..
